How to get better at paintball

So, you have probably been playing paintball for some time(if not check out my "how to play paintball blog) and you want to know how to get better. This guide will address some of the mistakes you might be making, upgrades to your gear, playing strategy, and a list of the top ten things you should do/have.

To make sure that you can play at your optimal level, here are some things that you might be doing wrong. Make sure that your wearing camo clothing(like from the Army) and that your not wear white, green, red, or light blue. Your opponent will see you from a mile away and as a result, he'll have the advantage. Even though it is hard to arm with a mask on, try to at least keep your marker level with your head. Also try to keep up with your teammates and never hang back because it really bites being the last person left.

Now that you've learned what NOT to do, lets see what gear you can upgrade.

#1. Your Paintball Gun

Upgrading your gun really depends on what type of player you are. If you just began and you don't know what type you are yet, I suggest upgrading to a tippmann 98 custom. This marker has amazing accuracy and durability for the price. If you already have one, a double trigger or a longer barrel should dramatically increase your performance.(A double trigger increases fire rate and is better for your hands)

FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO GET SERIOUS!!!
If you want to get really good and are willing to commit to your marker, read this. First of all, If you still don't know what type of player you are, I suggest investing in a Tippmann A-5 or a Spyder MR2. These markers are excellent and in fact my marker is an A-5. You can usually buy these for $160-220. I base most of my blog on Tippmann guns since they are the best and you can upgrade them more then anything else. Now keep in mind that the following list is for you gun only, other gear upgrades are lower. Now here are positions you can be and what you should upgrade your marker to.

1. Riflemen - The backbone of the team
First of all, I would upgrade my barrel length to 16 inches at least. This will increase your accuracy but just be short enough so it wont get caught on anything. You should also buy a double trigger and a larger hopper. You should also get a stock so you can support your marker as you play.

2. Sniper - The Flanker of the team
Snipers usually spend most of their time advancing as much as possible to eventually taking out much of the opposing team. You should upgrade your barrel to about 18-20 inches to maximize your accuracy. You should also get a sleeker hopper and a double trigger too. An Adjustable Stock will help you out a lot because you can shorten it as you crawl and advance along and then lengthen it when you get ready to fire.

3. Gunner - The Artillery of the team
The job of the Gunner is to lay down covering fire while your team advances on your opponents. You should get a flatline barrel(for Tippmann) or a 16-18 inch barrel. You should also get a large capacity hopper or if you are loaded an electronic board hopper. You should also get an E-trigger or an electronic board so you can go full-auto. A stock is a necessity for the Gunner as you can use it as a firing base to keep your marker steady as you "spray and pray".

I also have other articles on positions that are in detail and are a must for the aspiring paintballer

#2. The Gear
Upgrading your gear will make you not just more comfortable, but it will also give you that edge you need in the game. The most important upgrade to your gear is your Co2 tank. A 20oz tank is probably the best upgrade you can ever get for $20. Not only will this keep you in the game longer, you can also use the tank as a stock. If you like to shoot a lot of paintballs, I suggest you buy a harness. This will store your paint in tubes called pods and you can also put your tank in it. Using a remote coil you can store your tank on your back and keep it out of the way.

#3. Playing Strategy
The main thing that you should do to improve your playing strategy is to never hang back. Waiting at your starting point and "camping" will make it harder for your teammates to win. Then when they all get hit you are the only one left and winning is near impossible. Basically the best thing to do is right before you start, look for some cover, and then run as fast as you can to it. This will give you good field position and help you reach victory.

I hoped you learned how to improve from this blog, Please check out my other blogs about paintball!
